Personality Development! Personality is a very common term which is used in our day-to-day life. It tells us what type of person one is. Personality starts developing since birth, but it assumes great importance when rearrangement of personality takes place intentionally. We are all different and have developed unique personalities over the years. We have gone through different experiences in life and these have in no small measure contributed to the personality we possess today. These experiences have undoubtedly had influences on how we look, think, talk and behave. They also determine to a large extent to the choice of business or profession, relationships or status we are in today.
Personality is not something about how we look, or how we speak or how we behave, or how easily we can connect with people as we normally perceive. It is all about the attributes of behavioral, temperamental, emotional and mental attractiveness that enables us to influence others; our presence, vibrations. Each individual has his own unique characteristics, attributes and attitudes that make them who they are today.
The expression of personality development literally means progress of humanness. The indwelling quality of human is ever perfect; how can it progress or regress?! What is there to progress? It is only through a metaphysical study we can reveal that what is that which is varying progressing or regressing in us. Obviously before we get on developing something we need to know all about it first. The same goes with our personality. Everyone will have the power and ability to shape their personalities however they wish, if they study their constitution, the vital force behind their existence, and aware of their connection and order of materialization from the nature.
This article, in whole, is an enchiridion for everyone who is eager to realize their constitution, higher values of life, and give a clear vision about ourselves and how we can improve. The suggestions we give here specially is an inspiring compilation of theories concepts and mental exercises that derive profound insights by actively engaging and involving us wholesomely in a proficient manner to start working on development. When we develop ourselves to be 'all that we can be', we contribute to our own, as well as the health and happiness of others!
TREATING THE ROOT, STRESS MANAGEMENT
Stress is the basic cause of all the setbacks in life. Being in stress we cannot even imagine of knowing and developing of our personality. Hence the very first step to develop our personality is to learn what stress is and how to manage it.
Stress is a mind body reaction or response to a situation. Stress occurs when a situation or condition is not acceptable to us. Stress is mostly due to fear of future and worries of the past. Stress is too much to do and too little time or energy. So either we need to reduce our workload, which doesn’t seem to be a possibility these days, or we need to increase our time, this is not possible either. So what we are left with is to increase our energy levels.
Now how do we increase our energy levels? 1. The right amount of food – not too much and not too little a balanced diet with proper amount of carbohydrates and proteins helps to improve energy. 2. The right amount of sleep. 7 – 8 hours of sleep, not more not less. 3. Learning to correct our metabolism, breathing exercises will help. 4. Few moments of a meditative mind. A few minutes activity followed by relaxation or meditation can relieve all types of stress. If we meditate in the morning and evening for few minutes, it is good enough. It will keep us healthy.
Yoga takes the philosophy into the realm of experience, through gradual and systematic progression. Based on the understanding we gain from yoga starting from the gross or physical level, moving next to the subtler levels of mind and spirit, and then returning to the gross with a higher level of awareness. We return to our "outer" lives rejuvenated and relatively more enlightened makes you capable in shaping your personality.
PERCEPTION OBSERVATION
Magnanimous person will neither picks on the mistake of others nor blame him-self as ill-fated. Never spend your energy on pointing mistakes. To err is human. Don’t sit and chew on our mistake or someone else’s mistake. What's the use of pointing out a mistake that one knows he has committed? By doing this, you will only make them feel more guilty, defensive or resentful and this will only drain our energy and their energy. If someone else have made a mistake forgive and forget. If you have made a mistake, ask for forgiveness and move on.
When our energy level comes up our awareness will improve you will have more clarity on contemplation of our thoughts and desires and conduct. We need to start by taking a good look at ourselves- analyzing our traits, the strengths and weaknesses and everything that needs to be worked upon. Our thoughts, actions, decisions, interactions with others, our daily routines, our surroundings, everything can reflect the extent of our personality. Management happens in the mind and when it manages itself better it can manage anything.
Thorough contemplation, understanding of our own nature and retention, modification and application are very easy and long lasting when we learn with practical application. We should go through the set sequence of steps briefed below and practice them simultaneously (not to be mistaken as a step by step approach) for an orderly progression and study the whole web site thoroughly adeptly each page at our time and discover how fostered living enhances personality that is our birthright!
ENHANCE YOUR 'NERVE ENERGY'
Though we discussed about what way we can improve energy we should have a higher level thought on maintaining energy at all steps. We are beings of energy and consciousness. Our body and mind functions because of the flow of an underlying subtle life force energy called universal life force. There is no proper term for energy better than from Sanskrit said as "Prana". Prana is a Sanskrit word that has many profound meanings; breath, respiration, life, vitality or active strength behind body mind complex. The 'Prana' circulates through subtle energy channels called 'Nadis' in our body (the most suitable term for 'Nadis' in science is the 'Nerves'). Hence we may call it "Nerve Energy". In good health when the nerve energy is normal attributes are at optimal toxins are eliminated as fast as evolved in the body, and mind will be able to let go of negative thoughts easily. Thus 'Prana' is a psycho-physic-spiritual force that permeates our presence!
How we look how we feel and how we behave is an indication of what is happening with our energy! Energy ebbs and flows within us; so noticing what causes these ebbs and flows allows us to develop our life from a healthy perspective. The quantity and quality of energy and the way it flows through nerves has lot of effect on the way we think which has a lot of effect on the way how we behave or act. We convey so much through our presence, energy and vibrations. Our thoughts and actions- mind and body both need to be positive in order to have an attractive personality. Every moment we get energy and we lose energy. When the energy we receive is greater than the energy we lose, we feel alert happy and enthusiastic. When the energy we lose is greater than the energy we receive we feel dull, lazy and sick.
Stop all Nerve Leaks: Everything that acts on the body use up energy. Physically excess of everything drains our energy. Using nerve energy in excess of normal production, results in enervation and toxemia. A good knowledge of the rise and falls of energy level enable us to judge the quality of our own personality and health as well. If most of the time the characteristic of gearing up energy is there we can rest assured that our personality has to become mostly pure and we have made good progress. Best wealth is the relaxed energetic nerves! Innocent one doesn't have to make any effort to nurture their nerves. It all happens naturally unobstructed. Once you are proficient in maintaining nerve energy, conscious about its source and leaks, you get the ability to expand your awareness, stay focused and work on your goal of success while you stay calm and serene. Everyone wants to be successful in life. But success is not just having enough wealth and fame. One may have enough of it, but, if the body is enervated gets sick, one cannot enjoy what one has. One who can learn to flow with the nerve energy- life force as well as manage the life force is the most successful one.
ENHANCE YOUR 'CONCENTRATION '
Once nerve energy is restored certainly awareness will be optimal; as a preliminary step we must learn to concentrate on whatever we do, whatever we plan. We often say that we are not able to concentrate. The inability to attain any level of concentration is only due to enervation. It is never true that we cannot concentrate. What we lack is the ability to concentrate our mind on everything and under all circumstances. The difficulty arises when we have to practice concentrate on something unpleasant. Yet all that is pleasant is not necessarily good. On the other hand, what is unpleasant may be good and beneficial. So we must learn to concentrate on right practice whether pleasant or unpleasant as well as it is beneficial for us. This is possible by start concentrating on what is pleasant without much effort as it is very easy to concentrate and slowly transpose our awareness orderly to the next.
What we hear, we may forget; what we see we will remember; what we do we would understand. We remember only 10% of what we read, 20% of what we hear, 30% of what we see, 50% of what we see and hear, 70% of what we say and 90% of what we do. So the capacity for concentration comes in stages by reading, watching, listening, saying and doing. One should steadfastly follow these techniques suggested to enhance ability until a valid level of concentration awareness is achieved. Normally we are not able to concentrate because mind vacillate and get stuck somewhere which drains our energy. But, if our inner faculties are made powerful with the power of concentration and other techniques, we will get the ability to let go of stupid thoughts, and we will not act on them. We will act only on those which find beneficial. This is what awareness brings in us. If we are not aware, we simply act on the strongest impulse or strongest thought and become imperfect in our feelings. But if you are alert, you will see there is more awareness and more perfection then you choose to act or not to act which saves energy.
PERFECTING ACTION SPEECH AND EMOTIONS
Situations and circumstances in life can always be full ups downs and challenges. But in order to adopt a positive outlook towards life, we need to find the bright side of the things and focus on the good parts with a healthy perspective. When we perform actions with a healthy perspective with no selfish attitude it helps to purify the mind, purifies our heart, eliminates fear, focuses our mind and gives a true meaning and direction to our life. While working and speaking we need to focus on the quantity and quality and outcome. Our speech should have the relevant stuff and should be as short as possible; the subject matter of the speech should be useful either for self or others and should not be useless rumors or gossips; Our actions should be compassionate and reflect care for others and it should not hurt others feelings. We should not keep talking on the past and future unless it has relevance for the present where we use past experience effectively and use it to plan for the future.
'KNOWLEDGE' TO 'WISDOM'
Knowledge is the psychological result of perception, learning and reasoning. Experience, intellect and innocence together form knowledge. According to Science the knowledge can be gained through one of the two ways only- “Perception and Inference”. Actually there are three types of knowledge or information that we get. The knowledge based on Perception is gained through 5 gate ways of sound, touch, form, taste and smell. Most of our knowledge is gained by these five senses. You see and you get some knowledge, you listen and you get knowledge, you smell and you get information, through taste you get information and through touch. Unfortunately the perception or this form of knowledge is about external objects and cannot be used for knowing our own personality (Shravana).
The second way of knowledge, the “inference” is based one’s intellect, analysis and contextual understanding of external objects. Knowledge gained through intellect is science. For example what you see with your eyes is sun setting, but what you learn through science is that sun doesn't set. The earth revolves round the sun. You have not seen the earth revolving through any of the five senses, but through the intellect, you understand that the earth is revolving around the sun. This intellectual knowledge is superior to knowledge gained through the senses. Like in a jar of water, you keep a pen you see that the pen is bent. That is the perception, but intellect will say no it is not bent, it is an optical illusion. Based on different point of view the set of facts or circumstances that surround a situation will change, inference may change (Manana)
Actually these two levels of knowledge are far inferior to the third level of knowledge. Hence this cannot be used knowing our personality as it is outside the domain of senses and intellect, inference always subject to change. The third level of knowledge is intuitive knowledge. This knowledge from the spirit; comes from silence or innocence. It cannot be verified by the senses or intellect. Knowledge which comes through beyond these two is another level of knowledge beyond just existence. The rule of existence is beyond perception and inference, the life begins when we tap in to that level of intuitive knowledge. It offers a higher form of knowledge which is beyond the usual means and gave statements of reality of the self.
The fundamental prerequisite of one who wants to develop himself is the acceptance of this third form of knowledge as a source and actually the secret source of knowledge. But how would you tap into this level of knowledge which is not through the senses or through the intellect? For that we have to let go of the knowledge from the senses and the intellect and relax, you need to be innocent. The moment you let go and say I don't want to see, hear, smell and taste or even want to know anything then the cravings and aversions through the senses stop. All our cravings are about five sensory perceptions it cannot be anything beyond that.
Letting go of all the intellectual concepts, judgments is the second step. How should this be? How should that be? Am i doing the right thing? Am I on the right track? Should I go on? When we drop all these things, then silence begins, then the knowledge from the third level dawns. This true knowledge that comes from beyond the intellect is the gut feeling or intuitive knowledge. Sometimes our intellect says, "What I am doing is wrong", but we don't listen to the intellect. We keep doing the wrong things sticking on to the sensory experience and ignore the intellectual knowledge. We sometimes go beyond our intellect. Our intellect is saying something but our inner gut feeling saying something else. That is intuition. Intuition means that which simply comes up beyond reason. This needs to be developed. Intuitive sense is very important. This is deeper and closer to the truth. This attitude of accepting the knowledge of real truth is called as “Dedication” a complete wholehearted quality of being faithful.
Dedication gives us more understanding, and more knowledge. With dedication we first “accept” and then try to validate through deep analysis, discussions, clarifications till the last traces of doubts are removed. This is an innocent attitude from the modern western way of seeking knowledge where proof precedes the acceptance. The analogy given here is like someone saying- “Prove me that I can see first, before I open my eyes.” It is impossible to prove this type of knowledge. All that is needed is “open and see yourself”. It is experiencing reality the way it is. When knowledge becomes strongly embedded in our consciousness, it is called wisdom. Wisdom in simple language is, being conscious of the essence of all you know. This is possible when you own it (Nithdyasana)
KNOW MORE ABOUT 'DEDICATION'
Life cannot progress without unmitigated faith. We need to believe in the people around us and above all we need to have faith in the laws of nature that mostly appear incomprehensible to the human mind.
The entire universe is made of matter and hence it is called as material universe. The science deals with various elements of gross matter like atoms, compounds, elements etc. If we have to describe a concept which is beyond material, we cannot use the techniques of Perception or Inference or even Intuition- an impression that something might be the case. When we need to understand a concept of the super intelligence power behind the function of creation our body, breath, mind, memory, intellect, ego and heart, it has to be known only through an integrated need study is essential where dedication or faith is very important.
Dedication truly means loving the unknown. We either love or do not love that which we already know about. But if there is something we do not know, then we do not hate it right? We also have a choice to love it or not. Loving something which we have no idea about is called dedication. Dedication brings us knowledge. It is very subtle. We have to catch this else it slips from your understanding. There is something that is unknown, and we love it. And because of our love, we slowly start knowing it. For example: Say somebody do not know what meditation is, but they start liking it and do it, and then they start knowing it. They feel, 'Oh wow, meditation is so good'. So dedication gives us more understanding and more knowledge.
If there is a resistance in us, then that is a lack of dedication. It means that even before knowing something, we have a resistance to it. It is like putting a wall, thinking, 'I shall sit separately. I do not want to know this'. Then we cannot know it at all. When we say, 'I do not like it', then we also cannot know it. When we think, Oh! There is something new, I love this', then loving the unknown is what is called faith. It is not even important that we understand it totally, yet its benefits surely come to us.
Faith is very important. Faith brings totality the power in us. It pulls together all the loose ends of our consciousness. Faith integrates our whole personality. ‘Dedication’ leverages the power of submarine knowledge to come to the surface. Only through "Dedication" we can cross the ocean of delusion. When the knowledge is in order, you can loco mote back get in touch with the source as and when needed, then all of other tensions, worries which have been clouding the manifestation, fall off and we can celebrate life. That connection link between someone and their source is WISDOM.
CHANNELISE ENERGY- 'COMMITMENT'
The first step of channelization is not to get carried away with our emotions, be alert and act wisely. Do not let our emotions get the better of us. Emotions have their own place in building character where we have to be intelligent and act wisely. This is where knowledge is very essential. When we channelize our actions with the power of knowledge our character will become more symmetrical. Then life will become a sheer journey of success. The commitment- track made towards progress should be strong enough that the life locomotive runs on its full potential. Always Life should have some objective and each objective should have commitment.
The more we are committed the more we are strong. In every area of life there is commitment. Government works on commitment. Family runs on commitment; the mother is committed to the child, the child is committed to the parents, the husband is committed to the wife, and the wife is committed to the husband. Whether it is love or business or friendship or any area of life, there is commitment. Hence it is very important to organize us, channelize intellectually and emotionally towards progress. Commitment is that act of channelizing our actions, behavior and thoughts the loyalty that one owes to his own progress which prepares one in good working order.
We expect some commitment from someone and when they don’t do it, we get upset. Or when someone doesn’t keep up his or her responsibility, we get upset. What really irritates us is irresponsibility non-commitment. Once we are aware this phenomenon, how non-commitment irritates us enervate us, it help to prevent the mind from sliding down and being influenced by negative forces distracting us. We get the power to take responsibility!
INTEGRATED APPROACH 'RESPONSIBILITY'
Responsibility is whatever is within our power to do. When we take responsibility, we become powerful. Our capability increases, strength increases. Taking responsibility for our feeling and actions makes us powerful. Blaming other people or situations for our feelings and circumstances makes us weak. Normally we complain about things when we think we are not responsible. Fact is that we are responsible either for our actions or for our inaction.
Most problems in the world are social evils rooted in the selfishness of people. What most of the people deem is that, is it possible for anyone like me to create such a perfect world? As others are not under my control, it is not possible for me to transform others and make them perfect. On the other hand, we are not aware that there is one person who is under my control- whom I can transform and make perfect. That person is no other than my-self. If I can make my-self perfect, to that extent the other people or world will also be perfect. Rather than being an obsessed do-gooder I should try to change my-self first before trying to change the world. That is our prime responsibility. At some point of time, responsibility is a deep awareness of sympathy and sharing another's suffering; the humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it. That intention is responsibility. As we let our stress go, mind stop going to the past and future then our awareness expands and we feel greater sense of belonging. As our sense of belonging grows, our sense of responsibility expands. Then we will have enough strength socially to bind our-self in to persistent determination and responsibility. There is nothing much in doing what we can do, there is no growth. Stretching a little beyond our capacity, will increase our capacity. If we are committed to taking care of our family, that much capacity we gain. If our commitment is to the community, we will get that much energy, joy, that much power. Growth comes as we take more responsibility.
ATTITUDES & EXPRESSIONS
Keeping our mind pleasant is an important aspect while developing personality. Maharshi Pathanjali sage scientist and propounder of Yoga in one of his sutras describes how to keep our mind pleasant while dealing with people. There are four kinds of attitude that are good to have in life to keep our mind pleasant while dealing with people. Mainly there are four types of people in the world. People who are happy, People who are unhappy, People who are engaged in good and meritorious acts, People who are engaged in not so meritorious acts or demonic acts.
1. Friendliness ( maitri): Be friendly with people who are happy. If you are not friendly with happy people, you will be jealous. This is because you think that your enemy is happy, and you cannot tolerate your enemy being happy. So always shake hand with happy people. When you feel that they are your own, they belong to you, it does not bother you when they are happy. You are never jealous about the happiness of someone very close and dear to you. Such an attitude does a lot of good to your mind.
2. Compassion (Karuna): Do not be friendly with people who are miserable, instead have compassion for them. Have sympathy for people who are suffering. If you are friendly with unhappy people you will become unhappy. you can never help them come out of their misery. So have different attitude different flavor of relationship with them. Many people have gotten into trouble by being friendly with unhappy people; both become miserable. It is like a doctor going to a patient who is sick, and doctor also becomes sick. If the doctor also thinks, 'How can i alone be healthy? Let me also share the patients misery" who will help the patient then? So have compassion with people who are miserable, not pity. When we pity them we make their beliefs stronger that God has been unjust to them and that nature has been unkind to them. We agree them that they are suffering. Saying this we push them lower down the drain. We should not pity people who are suffering.
3. Happiness (Mudita): For people who are doing good work or who are successful, you should feel happy as though you are doing the good work. Be very happy with people who are doing good jobs, who are meritorious, who are blessed. Then the sense of competition disappears and jealousy subsides. The tendency to find fault with people who are doing good things will disappear. We need to have this attitude of sharing happiness with people who do good jobs and feel happy. For example if some one is a good singer, singing and bring joy to everybody, seeing him you should think, 'I feel so happy that this person is singing so well and making everyone so happy.'
4. Indifference (Upeksha): Upeksha is indifference for sinful things. For people who are doing horrible things in the society destroying themselves, we usually get angry with them. When you are angry your mind suffers a huge loss. You lose so much energy; you lose your mood and your enthusiasm. When energy and enthusiasm goes away from you, you become angry and are no better than the other person. You do not know that what you are doing. So when you see people doing sinful things, you should educate and ignore them, There are thieves in the world, they are there, what can you do about them? First accept, be indifferent. How ever this does not mean you do not take any action. Your mind is indifferent (Unaffected), but you act on it. If this is done, our mind will remain pleasant.
These are the four attitudes that will help us to save our mind and nourish our mind.
BALANCE YOUR EGO
Ego rots to egoism or egotism when we get more attention, when we don’t get attention, when we seem to be losing attention. Any way we need to pierce through it with the whole consciousness to reach success. It is very easy to go pierce through a transformed ego with love and knowledge; no secrecy in that. A transformed ego is the ego with knowledge, with wisdom.
Being natural honest and true to our words and actions will bring us the admiration, respect and gratitude of others. Unless we have our higher ideals great affection, our selfishness will continue to devastate society, and the world will be a terrible place to live in. Nothing improves a person's personality more than integrity and respect- respect for others, as well as respect for our-self.
BE ENTHUSIASTIC
You communicate more by your presence than by your words. But, as we grow develop, somehow we miss taking care of this sublime aspect of our lives. Our presence weakens as innumerable impressions of our past experiences accumulate and clog our mind. In order to develop our mind we have to get rid of them completely. Through repeated efforts alone can this be done? New wholesome habits have to be formed to replace the old ones. And it surely takes time.
HAVE AN OPINION
Be well informed interesting and stimulating to be with socially about all the relevant stuff in our surrounding and feel free to have and express opinions with level head. We would have experienced number of times that there is nothing more tiresome than trying to talk to someone who has no opinion on anything. Since each of us is unique, expressing that uniqueness is what makes us interesting. At the same time take care that, we shouldn’t be a football of others’ opinions. It is foolishness that having no opinions and trying to be something we are not.
ACKNOWLEDGE DIVERSITY
CULTIVATE MORE 'INTERESTS'
Usually, we think we should have resources and then we will commit ourselves for more. It is actually otherwise. Greater interest we take, larger the resources that will come to us automatically. When we have the intention to do something, resources simply flow in when they are needed and in the amount, they are needed. So stretch our-self little more beyond our capacity and do more things. If we have only one thing to do and that goes wrong, then we are stuck with it. Take responsibility and start doing something for the society. In whatever capacity we do something for society, for the environment, for the creation, that much we progress both materially and spiritually (value wise). The heart opens up with a feeling that we are part of everyone. When we have many things to do then only even if one thing goes wrong, we can keep doing the remaining things.
HAVE A GOAL
A goal is a desired result or outcome that a person envisions, plans and commits to achieve. Where do I want to be, 5 years from now? Or this time next year? Goals gives direction to life, it brings commitment. A goal provides motivation to move forward whether it is carrier oriented, life or educational. Once we fix the goal, the path starts unfolding by itself. A life without a goal will not be happy one. Without a goal the mind and intellect will not move in the right direction. So a goal is needed in life.
The purpose of any goal is the same, to have an objective on which we can focus, for which we can strive. Behind every action, there is a motivation to get a specific desired result. Since every action is done with an eye on a specific goal, the expectation of the result affects the process of the action. Of course there is much more to life than setting and achieving goals. Yet it is something that sets things rolling.
Life has an intelligence of its own and it might not be completely wrong to say that; it has an inherent design coded in it. Then being a part of this life brings two choices; to accept life as destiny and go along with the wind or to go against the tide. The fruit of action is what motivates one to act, but we can take a break from the fruit of action when we let go of the result and become totally centered in the action itself.
Everyone wants to improve and often set some goal in mind, like wanting a calmer mind, better at dealing with adverse situations, a kinder heart. And there must have been times, when we have felt that we should let go of our goals. But if the result is different from the perceived goals; how do we react? How to find the strength to accept the result? This is where wisdom, commitment and responsibility to help in managing expectations!
MANAGE EXPECTATIONS
When they come up, we should simply become aware that by expecting, we are only reducing joy in our life. We simply need to know that surprises give us more joy.
We can let go of expectations if we have an understanding of our own mind and of life itself. By opening the mind to being more aware, through regular practice, we become more and more fulfilled and calm in the moment.
Who am i? What is life? Where am I going? When none of these questions arise in our mind know that we are asleep. We are lost in watching movies and playing games. We do not think that we filled our mind with so much of craving and aversion and we have done nothing to wash or cleanse our mind.
Our mind is completely destroyed thinking about other’s imperfections. Leave other’s imperfections to others. Let them handle that. Let us handle our own mind, let us handle our imperfection that is good enough.
If we don’t cleanse our mind of impressions, then we carry the same mind and same impressions with us after death. When we die our mind should be happy and joyful!
Meditation helps with uprooting the disturbance or disappointment causes by unfulfilled expectations. Meditation also helps us to let go of expectations by allowing the mind to rest more and more in the present moment.
STRETCH YOURSELF
We will have enough strength to face any situation. Highest fear we face in meeting people is criticism. There are people who criticize those who do great deeds and then there are also people who support those who do wrong deeds. Welcome Criticism! Know that, Criticism is just disapproval expressed by someone pointing out faults or shortcomings where we need a serious self examination and judgment. If the criticism is meant for correcting, we should accept it, correct it. If criticism is meant for insulting, we should ignore smiling at them, feel compassionate about them. That is wisdom.
People want everyone to abide by what they say. Does this happen? This is never possible. Every person has a different way of thinking working. We should accept it. First accept people as they are and then make an effort to transform them. Issuing commands or orders results only in tribulations an annoying or frustrating event atmosphere in the society. This trouble of not being able to agree or understand others feeling is the great impediment in self development. Love and knowledge the outputs of energy can remedy this contingency smoothly. When there is energy there is love, we will be able to maintain our self esteem, will be able to move through challenges.
SELF OBSERVANCE
How soon do you want success? Progress takes place slowly and almost imperceptibly. We may have to continue doing our life style practices for long time before any tangible progress can be noticed. It is good to judge our-selves once in a while. It is common in many who have engaged in developing them often want to know how much progress they have made. Unfortunately it is not the way. It is not easy to observe our mental growth. It is like measuring the height of a young child every day to know how much he has grown. Unless a longer time is allowed to elapse between observations it will not be possible to notice how much growth has occurred. Same is true in judging our personality.
We need a strong will and great tenacity to persevere. The old unwholesome habits of the mind are hard. This habits nurtured through many years of indulgence, can be extremely stubborn. It takes at least few months to burst it or pierce through it. It is possible only through perseverance patience and practice. The earlier you explore yourself with life style practices suggested yoga, and meditation combined with a systematic plan of diet, combined with lovely rejuvenating sessions the faster you get to accelerate success in all aspects of your life. You get the confidence and the ability to achieve whatever you want in life with an unshakable smile. This also makes an impact on people around you to look up to you as an inspiration!

SAMKHYA
Samkhya one of the most prominent and one of the oldest of Indian philosophies teaches us about this, the components of the body, mind, and spirit, from the gross elements that make up the physical body to the more subtle elements of the mind intellect and consciousness. It describes the full spectrum of human existence by revealing the basic elements that make up the macrocosm and the microcosm.
The basic knowledge of prakrithi and its manifestation can pave a non-tedious path for development. Prakrithi is composed of three externally subtle substances the three fundamental forces called the Maha-gunas. Proper balancing of these Gunas plays a great role in our personality. All of these three gunas are present in everyone and everything it is the proportion that is varying, according to worldview. The interplay of these gunas defines the character of someone or something, of nature and determines the progress of life.
Sattva Guna means, balance, luminosity, goodness, constructive, harmonious and knowledge. Satwa is the nature of joy. It has the ability to reveal or make things known. The luminosity of light, the ability of mind and senses to know things, reflecting power of the mirror, the transparency of the glass and crystals are all due to the presence of sattwa Guna in them. Similarly happiness, contentment satisfaction, joy of bliss in a mind is due to the presence of sattwa.
Rajo Guna is, momentum, desire, passion, active and confused. Rajo guna causes activity, movement and restlessness. Avarice, hankering, anger, egoism, vanity, and the wish to dominate over the others are also characteristics of rajo Guna. It also is the nature of pain and sufferings- the cause of all types of painful experiences. Where ever we see activity, movement or restlessness, pain or suffering in the world, we should know that it is due to the predominance rajo guna.
Thamo Guna is inertia, darkness, destructive, chaotic and decay. The characteristics of thamo Guna are inertia, passivity, sluggishness, heaviness and negativity. It resists activity or movement. It renders the mind sluggish and incapable of knowing things clearly. It causes confusion, mental depression, bewilderment and ignorance. It induces drowsiness and sleep.
Before creation the Gunas remain in a state of perfect equilibrium, none claiming preponderance. The Gunas share two common characteristics. They are in perpetual conflict with one another, each one trying to subdue or overcome the other in order to become predominant. As a result of the conflict among them, prakrithi starts evolving and changing. The first sign of prakrithi’s conscious activity is seen in its tendency to change itself. It undergoes a process of gradual transformation, and the final outcome is this manifold human being. The primordial matter- prakrithi- becomes the universe through this process of evolution. At the same time these Gunas cooperate very much with one another. That is how we and the entire universe exist. A candle flame exists through the cooperation of the wick, wax and fire. The flame will cease to exist without such cooperation. Similarly, everything in the world exists owing to the cooperation of three Gunas.
